Satin Poppy Flower

I love the look of these flowers. They are really easy to make and they look great as hair clips, broaches, purse clips and shoe clips. Just pick up any satin fabric, needle and thread, lighter and beads and you're ready to go!

Cheap satin fabric doesn't burn right, so don't cheap out on this. You need such a little amount that a quarter yard will give you enough flowers to fill a garden!

Satin Poppy Flowers

Satin fabric
lighter
pliers or anything to hold the fabric while burning the edges
scissors
needle and thread
2 beads

Cut circles out of the satin fabric in various sizes.

The best way to do this is to cut your smallest circle and use that to cut the next circle a 1/4 inch bigger around and so on until you've cut your desired amount. I personally think that 7 circles make the best pins and 5 for hair clips. Tip: cut at least one extra in case you burn an edge too much.

Using the pliers, hold the fabric close to the flame from the lighter until the outside edge of the fabric melts and curls in.

Hold the flame towards the center of the circle. Rotate the pliers on the circle until the edges have been melted all the way around. Do this for all the circles.

Place the circles in side one another and sew together. Sew the beads in the center of the flower.
