Chocolate Crackled Cookies
1 1/4 C brown sugar
1 stick shortening
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
2 C flour
6 tbsp cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
2/3 C semi-sweet chocolate chips (or pecans)
1/3 C sugar
1/2 C powdered sugar
Beat brown sugar, shortening & vanilla at medium speed until blended. Add eggs, beat well.
Whisk together flour cocoa, salt, and baking soda. Add to shortening mixture and beat on low until just blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Cover and chill for 3 hours.
Heat oven to 375. Shape into 1 inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar and then in powdered sugar- coat completely.
Bake 8-10 minutes.
